让学生讲好中国故事

曙光书院和袁庚书院共同举办了

第一届“文化·中国”英语演讲比赛

To develop students’global vision, competency of cross-cultural communication, and better skills to tell China’s stories, Dawning College and Yuan Geng College jointly held SIAT’s 1st Culture·China English Public Speaking Contest.

活动回顾

经过初赛的角逐，6名同学从一众选手中脱颖而出。她们在8月1日晚于明珠校区举行的决赛中，用亲身经历和生动的语言向听众讲述了她们所感受的中国文化。比赛由富有海外工作经验的SIAT师生代表担任评委。

Six contestants stood out from others in the preliminary. In the final contest held at Mingzhu Campus on August 1, they used their personal experience and vivid language to illustrate Chinese culture to all the audience. The judges of the final contest were SIAT faculties and students who had oversea experiences.

胡雨微（医药所，袁庚书院）、牟育生（集成所，曙光书院）、霍子欣（集成所，袁庚书院）、李强（集成所，曙光书院）、柯莹莹（医药所，袁庚书院）和Sharif（医工所，曙光书院）同学分别从自然风光、语言文字、气候、特色饮食、家乡城市特点和在中国的经历的角度切入，讲述了他们感受到的中国文化。选手们在演讲和问答环节的流畅表达和清晰逻辑给评委和听众们留下了深刻的印象。在活动当晚，还穿插进行了外国文化的分享环节，来自5个国家的青年学者们相继上台讲述她们的文化，让本次活动不仅展示中国文化，也成为了跨文化交流的平台。

Hu Yuwei(Institute of Biomedicine and Biotechnology, Yuan Geng College), Mu Yusheng(Institute of Advanced Integration Technology, Dawning College), Huo Zixin(Institute of Advanced Integration Technology, Yuan Geng College), Li Qiang(Institute of Advanced Integration Technology, Dawning College), Ke Yingying(Institute of Biomedicine and Biotechnology, Yuan Geng College) and Mohammad Shariful Islam(Institute of Biomedical and Health Engineering, Dawning College) respectively talked about Chinese culture from the angles of natural scenery, language, climate and food, hometown cuisine, city features and personal experience in China. The fluency and logic that each contestant showed in prepared speech and Q&A sessions left judges and audience a strong impression. During the event, there were also sections for foreign guests to introduce their home culture, which made the contest become a platform not only for stories of China, but also for cross-cultural communication.

国际青年学者分享

大赛评选出一等奖1名、二等奖2名、三等奖3名，由评委代表分别为获奖选手颁奖。最后，所有选手、评委、工作人员和国际青年学者上台合影留念，大赛在欢声笑语中圆满结束。

Three levels of prizes were to be distributed in the final contest. At last, there was one winner for the first prize, two for the second and three for the third. Judge delegates respectively presented the prize to contestants in award ceremony. The contest came to an end after all the contestants, judges, staff and foreign scholars gathered together for group photos.

体验中国文化

在活动开始前，曙光书院师生们与30名来自15个国家的中国科学院大学暑期学校青年学者们分组结对，一起包饺子。在中国文化中，逢年过节招待亲朋好友都会包饺子。通过与外国友人共同动手准备这一传统美食，让外国友人感受到SIAT对她们的欢迎，并让外国友人亲身体验中国文化的魅力。

Before the final contest, students and faculties from Dawning College paired up with 30 UCAS summer school foreign scholars from 15 countries and divided into groups to make dumplings. In Chinese culture, people make dumplings to welcome family members and friends whenever there is a festival. Through making dumplings together, we wanted to make our foreign friends feel welcomed at SIAT, and let them feel the charm of Chinese culture.

活动结束后，选手和国际学者们纷纷对对大赛给予积极评价，表示活动让她们结识了新友，留下了美好回忆，还了解了不同国家的文化。

After the event, both foreign scholars and contestants left many great comments, expressing that the event has brought them opportunities to meet new friends, create good memories, and get to know more about different cultures.
